Summer Weather in Seattle

July weather in Washington State is at its finest. Seattle is typically mild and pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-50s to the low 70s Fahrenheit (10-20°C). Summertime in Seattle is wonderful, where the greens become even more verdant, and the waters of Puget Sound seem to get even bluer, if possible.

However, as always, prepare for Seattle’s moody weather. It’s a good idea to pack layers for a day out. By the time night falls you’ll likely need a sweatshirt or a light jacket when you’re out to watch the fireworks light up the sky.

Remember to stay hydrated! Bring a water bottle with you (refillable is even better—Seattlites really make an effort to be eco-conscious and reduce single-use plastics).

 Amazon Seafair Summer Fourth

Is there nothing more American than a hotdog fresh off the grill and fireworks? The Amazon Seafair Summer Fourth is undoubtedly one of the most popular ways to celebrate July 4th in Seattle. In fact, both USA Today and Business Insider have named it one of the country’s best fireworks shows!

Spanning both Gas Works Park and South Lake Union, the event features activities all day (including live entertainment, food vendors, beer gardens, and more) and culminates in a riveting fireworks display. The event is free, but you can save your spot with a paid seating reservation.

Grand Old Fourth of July (Bainbridge Island)

If you’d like to experience a small-town celebration with a big heart, Bainbridge Island is only a quick 35-minute ferry ride from Seattle.

This colorful and fun-filled display is all about the kids! Instead of your typical floats, come to watch creatively decorated scooters, strollers, bikes, and more in the North Admiral neighborhood.

Ultimately, the Fourth of July parade ends up in Hamilton Viewpoint Park, where families can enjoy games, crafts, food trucks, and other activities. This family-friendly parade is a great option for your itinerary if you’re traveling with kids.

Pro Tip: If you get hungry before or after the festivities, rustle up some classic 4th of July BBQ at Hole in the Wall Barbecue.
