Barrio Mexican Kitchen & Bar
This Mexican kitchen serves up all of the favorite Mexican classics but with a northwest twist. You’ll have your fair share of tacos to choose from, ranging between classic, baller, and vegetarian. This is on top of a full menu of appetizers and entrees, too.
Barrio doesn’t just stop at the food, they also have an agave bar with nearly 300 bottles of tequila for you to choose from. Don’t worry if you don’t know your preference, the staff is well-versed and will be able to guide you or you can opt for one of their margarita specialties.
This Capitol Hill restaurant is casual/modern and is a great choice for lunch or brunch.

Big Mario’s Pizza
You might know about this restaurant from New York City but now you can grab a slice from this famous pizzeria right here in Seattle. They also have locations in Fremont and Queen Anne.
Although Italian himself, Big Mario’s serves traditional New York-style pizza, by the slice or by the pie. Whenever we order delivery to our home, it usually arrives in about 30-45 minutes. Whether dining in or taking out/delivery, specify that you want your pizza “well done” upon ordering. It otherwise tends to come out a bit undercooked for our taste.

Lark Restaurant
This is a restaurant we would describe as classic Seattle. The menu features locally sourced ingredients and a range of flavors. They work with local farmers, ranchers, fisheries, and forages to ensure they’re serving only what’s in season.
Plates can be shared or ordered individually. The menu is vast and ranges from a burger to steaks and fish. In all the years we have been eating at Lark, we have never been disappointed. We particularly enjoy the modern farmhouse dining room.

Mamnoon
A modern take on Middle Eastern cuisine, flawlessly executed. Great for brunch, lunch, or dinner. They also have a take-out window if you’re looking for a quick snack. In general their brunch/lunch menu is much more relaxed and highlights a few typical street foods and tapas from the Middle East, whereas the dinner menu is more elegant.
As with many of the restaurants on the list, the dishes are great for sharing. Parking can be tricky in this area, so consider taking an Uber.

Marjorie Restaurant
Their self-description is apt: “modern design & handcrafted décor set the stage for eclectic comfort fare from around the world.” You’ll love the indoor/outdoor seating at Marjorie and the hospitality the staff shows. Highlighting a few traditional Jamaican dishes, they serve a variety of cuisines from around the world.
For something special, ask about the chef’s seasonal tasting menu.

Momiji
Momiji serves delicious sushi and traditional Japanese food. The menu is extensive and the food (and wine) is moderately priced. The restaurant is bustling every night of the week, so reserve in advance. A part of sushi, they served a variety of appetizers, crispy fried dishes, grilled dishes, and soups. Although a Japanese restaurant, they don’t serve ramen, only udon and miso.
There is a courtyard with seating in the summer and a busy bar that offers two happy hours daily – from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m and 10 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. Caveat: We experienced spotty service during a recent visit, but we are hoping it was just a fluke.

Monsoon Seattle
Monsoon is a modern, upscale, and delicious Vietnamese bistro. They’ve added a small northwest twist to their typical Vietnamese dishes by focusing on local ingredients and what they can make from scratch.
When you visit, we highly recommend you start with some fresh rolls. In the summer, they have a large roof deck that’s nice to eat on. To try a few more Asian delights, they have a nice dim sum brunch menu, as well. Save room for dessert down the street at Hello Robin!

OMEGA OUZERI
OMEGA OUZERI is a contemporary restaurant serving authentic Greek fare and Greek wines in a lovely setting. They focus on serving small plates that are best shared among a group of friends. We recommend you order a big variety but don’t miss the sea bass and the tzatziki!

Skillet Diner
Skillet Diner is a delicious, upscale diner. Here you can expect to enjoy comfort food and greasy goodness. They offer two menus: one from brunch and lunch, served from 7 A.M – 3 P.M, and another called “skillet after dark,” that serves dinner from 3 P.M – 7 P.M.
They’re most popular for brunch where you can enjoy fan favorites like fried chicken and waffles and egg-based sandwiches, wraps, and plates. For dinner, expect southern delicacies like shrimp and grits.

Terra Plata
Terra Plata is a modern Spanish restaurant featuring an abundance of small plates well-suited to family style dining. The menu changes frequently, though the roast pig with clams and chorizo is standard and always delicious.
Ask your server for suggestions and allow the kitchen to serve dishes as they are ready, instead of serving everything all at once. Andy’s cousin’s son (then age 8) declared it his “best meal ever.” Also open for lunch, brunch and happy hour.

Via Tribunali
Via Tribunali serves artisan quality brick oven pizzas, with good salads and other starters. Be sure to note which pizzas are white and which include tomato sauce, so that you can order to your preference. They also offer private dining tables for special occasions.
Generally, we prefer the pizza at the Independent in Madison Park, though service is faster here and it’s much easier to get a table. Be aware that the restaurant is quite dark; you might need a light to read the menu.

Spinasse
Serving some of the best Italian food you can find in Capitol Hill, Spinasse is sure to impress. Focused on dishes from the Piemonte region of Italy but made with locally sourced ingredients common in the northwest, this Italian restaurant is unlike any you’ve had before.
All pastas on the menu are made in-house. They have a variety of starters, entrees, and desserts. They also serve aperitivos, classic Italian cocktails, and a few other house specialities.
